Music Channels Research

The Box Television Channel came to the United Kingdom and Ireland after being seen in Miami in 1991 by Vincent Monsey and Liz Laskowski.
The target audience of The Box is teenagers to young adults because it features very mainstream music with young artists. The Box mostly attracts females but males do watch the channel too. They feature different programmes such as Hottest Males and Hottest Females which attracts different audiences due to different artist interests. The demographic audience is E and D because the audience are mostly students or newly employed people.
The artists that get more air time on the show are the ones who have a No1 Single or a Single which is in the top 40. Sometimes artists get more air times if they have several songs in the charts. For example, Ed Sheeran gets a lot of air time at this current time because he has three songs 'Thinking Out Loud', 'Sing' and 'Don't'. This is beneficial for Ed Sheeran because he is getting more recognition from the audiences and attracts a younger audience which is always beneficial for artists and bands because the younger generations are the future.
The main genres to be shown are Pop, R&B and sometimes Indie.

Kiss TV was launched 26th June 1998.
The audience for Kiss TV ranges from teenagers to young adults as it has channels that play music from the 90s and the noughties which attract attention from adults in their 30s and 40s however music of the music played is UK top 40 or Best of 2014 which directs the young audiences to watch Kiss TV.
Similar to The Box Television, some artists will get more air time than others due to the chart hits at the time.
Programmes that they broadcast are Weekend Anthems, Ultimate RnB and Hip Hop, Late Night Jamz, Kissalicious. These programmes give a lot of big urban songs and videos. This attracts a young audience because it is a lot of exciting, up to date music.

4 Music is a UK television programme which started broadcasting on the 15th August 2008.
Programmes that they air range from Todays 4Music Top 10, 4Music Big Ones, UKTop40, The Versus Chart and 4Music Doubles. These programmes feature pop and urban music along with songs from the 90s and noughties which compares different artists and their music videos.
The audience is teenagers to young adults because of the music choice that is given. Demographically, the audience is E and D.
The genres that are usually shown are pop with possibilities of RnB songs getting into the charts.
Like Box Television and Kiss TV, some artists may get more airtime due to the benefit of having two or more songs in the chart. For Example, One Direction have 'steal my girl' and 'night changes' in the chart at the time which creates more recognition for them and also helps 4Music to get more viewers due to the amount of fans that One Direction and other artists have.

History of Madonna's Music Videos.

I have analysed Madonna's music videos since 1892 from her first shot video to one of her most recent videos in 2012. I decided to use Madonna as she is a pop artist which is the genre that I think I will focus on Pop for my music video.
